Our Location

We are located at 6805 E. McDonald Drive in Paradise Valley.  Though the Temple ’s address is in the Town of Paradise Valley, just south of Lincoln, and just west of Scottsdale Road. We are also very close to South Scottsdale and East Phoenix.  With the opening of the 101 Freeway, there is now quick and easy access to Temple Solel from north Scottsdale as well.

Accessibility

Our buildings are fully accessible to the physically challenged.  Our recently remodeled sanctuary includes graduated seating for easy visibility, and is now equipped with a special hearing assistance system for the hearing impaired. Our meeting rooms and social hall are frequently the site of programs and events in the larger Jewish community.

Temple Solel's Memorial Plaques

Each leaf we dedicate for those we love in celebration of life's joyous moments will surely strengthen this Temple as we seek to generate scholarship funds for our students who are in need. The Tree of Life will serve as our source of inspiration to our school and to our children.

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life is located close to the front entrance. Its contemporary structure fits in with the modern decor of our Temple. The Tree of Life provides an opportunity for everyone to share the special occasions in their lives with the Temple family. Loved ones, friends and members of the congregation will all be able to create permanent remembrances of their joyous events so that future generations will look upon our yesterdays as having been filled with hopes, dreams and accomplishments.

Temple Solel's Sanctuary Window

Our Sanctuary window, designed and crafted by artist Sam Terry, represents a bridge between exterior and interior "sacred space". Superimposed over a timeless and boundless desert landscapes a large interior scene from a small 16th century synagogue in Amsterdam. The inscriptions within the design represent another bridge, a temporal one, connecting the most ancient with progressively newer Jewish expressions of our people's quest to find transcendent meaning in finite space.

 The Ark

The quotations, chosen by Rabbi Maynard Bell, come from the Bible, the Talmud, medieval and modern poetry, and contemporary liturgy. They appear in chronological order, progressing from right to left, over the face of the window. Each quotation is set in a calligraphic style or printed font from different eras of Jewish history, ranging from the scribal style of the first century CE, to Rashi script, to the typeface of the Vilna Talmud, to medieval book type, to the typeface in out contemporary Siddur, Gates of Prayer.
