There are a number of committees within Temple Solel. We encourage you to explore and find out more about the one that is appropriate for you.

Our mission is to explore, support and showcase Temple Solel Art with the express purpose of cataloging, updating, caring for, managing, showing, and rotating the art to enhance our temple environment. The B’nai Mitzvah Connection

Budget Committee

The Budget Committee is responsible for the preparation and submission of the annual congregational budget(s), for approval by the Board of Trustees and the membership of the congregation. Please contact Phil Hawkes at for additional information.

Caring Community

Working in conjunction with Rabbi Linder, Temple Solel’s active Caring Community provides support for our congregants in times of sorrow and in moments of joy. Committee on Trustee Development 

This committee is responsible for developing leadership which includes filling board and committee chair positions, spearheading efforts toward continuing education and training of board members. Development Committee

Education Committee

The Education Committee advises and supports our education professionals of Raker Religious School and The Solel Preschool and supports the world of building relationships among and creating lifelong Jewish learners within the Temple Solel community. Facilities Committee

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for regularly reviewing financials, recommending fiscal policy, and facilitating optimal decision making on financial issues. Please contact Phil Hawkes at for additional information.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for membership recruitment, integration, retention, and outreach. Committee members greet at temple services and events, participate in community-wide events, contact prospective members, hold open houses for prospective members, plan special events and Shabbats, and much more. Marketing Committee

The marketing committee works with the professional staff to provide strategic direction in the areas of branding, website design, advertising, internal communications, public relations and marketing collateral. To get involved, contact Robert Danoff, committee chair, at

PAC (Parent Action Committee)

The Solel Preschool PAC group supports the preschool in all of its endeavors from fundraising to programming to appreciating our teachers. The goal of PAC is to support The Solel Preschool through their time, talents and dedication so as to foster an environment of learning, quality programming and opportunities for professional development. Security Committee

The Security Committee oversees all processes related to the general security of our temple and preschool facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, entry and exit procedures, infrastructure and more. To get involved contact Leon Gavartin at

Social Action Committee

Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World)

Ritual Committee

The Ritual Committee assists our clergy in shaping our worship experience, blending the best customs of Temple Solel services with innovations that will enhance prayer for our community. To get involved, contact Judy Schaffert at

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee manages the evaluation of clergy and professional staff, handles clergy and senior staff contracts, and assists, as needed, in matters concerning personnel management. According to the Temple Bylaws, only members of the Board of Trustees can serve on this committee.
