Art @ Solel

Welcome to Art Showcase

Art Showcase, featuring art by Temple members, is currently showing an exhibit of ten watercolors, acrylics and mixed media pieces by Karen Bell-Zinn. The images are available for viewing in the North Hallway (between the Library and the Social Hall) and will be available through August 31, 2013. A “Meet the Artist” discussion will be held on Sunday, August 25, at 9:45 a.m.

All works are for sale at special prices, and part of the proceeds will benefit the temple’s art scholarship initiative. Contact Ira Thomas at 602-374-7885 or irathomas690@yahoo.com for more information and pricing. Many of Karen’s images are drawn from Jewish history, including her Mandalas and other watercolors. She is also an accomplished illustrator. Karen hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ASU and teaches at Washington High School and Temple Solel. The Art @ Solel Committee was formed two years ago to manage the Temple's current art collection and to promote art as a community activity.

Art @ Solel is a committee dedicated to the preservation and advancement of art at Temple Solel.

  • An ongoing register of all art owned and/or on loan to the Temple is maintained by the committee. Documentation includes an illustration, history, donor(s), artist biography and estimated value.
  • Those works are maintained, prepared and displayed at various times within the Temple building, the objective of which is to provide our members with a pleasing and educational art environment. Printed folders and labeling document many of the works and displays.
  • Finally, the committee is involved in new art projects such as member shows, seasonal exhibitions, a sculpture garden and docent tours to enhance members' appreciation of the permanent and on-loan collection.
